Minister-Designate for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Madam Emelia Arthur, says she will employ scientific and indigenous knowledge to strengthen the fisheries sector.

The Minister-Designate for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development disclosed this when she appeared before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Wednesday, January 23, 2025, for her vetting.

She stated that the fisheries sector will see increased production under her leadership as the knowledge of indigenes in the fishing communities will be merged with scientific knowledge to run the industry.

Madam Arthur explained that Indigenous knowledge about the fishing sector plays a crucial role in securing a sustainable future.
