The Koforidua High Court has granted bail to former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Freddie Blay, in the sum of GH₵800,000.

‎As part of the bail conditions, he is required to provide two sureties who must live in Accra and possess valid Ghana Cards.

‎The decision comes after Mr Blay was earlier remanded by the Akropong Circuit Court over an alleged demolition dispute at Kitase. He is expected to reappear before the court on April 9 while investigations continue.

‎Mr Blay was handed over to the Akropong Police after he was arrested in Accra on Monday, March 16, 2026, following a warrant issued for his arrest.

‎Police say the case is linked to claims that he ordered the demolition of a house under construction on a piece of land at Kitase. The landowner reportedly filed a complaint after Mr Blay allegedly failed to respond to an invitation to assist with investigations.

‎Authorities said charges were filed, but Mr Blay did not appear before the court on the scheduled date in April 2025, leading to the issuance of the arrest warrant.

‎However, sources close to Mr Blay argue that he was not aware of the warrant before his arrest. They say the dispute involves land he acquired in 1994, which later became the subject of a legal battle.

‎The sources also deny that he ordered any demolition, insisting that he only directed that a bare piece of land be cleared in January 2026 to prevent the breeding of dangerous animals.

‎They further noted that although the complainant had earlier won a ruling at the High Court in Koforidua, that decision has been appealed, and attempts to serve the complainant with court documents have been unsuccessful.
