The latest poll by Global Info Analytics indicates that former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has taken a commanding lead in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries, securing 47 percent of delegate support.

The results, released on the organization’s official social media platforms on Monday, September 29, position Dr. Bawumia as the clear front-runner in the party’s internal race.

However, the poll revealed that a significant number of delegates remain undecided, leaving room for possible shifts as the contest intensifies.

Businessman and former Assin Central legislator Kennedy Agyapong emerged as Dr. Bawumia’s closest challenger. Yet the data suggests he has been unable to fully capitalize on recent dips in the former Vice President’s support.

Analysts argue that unless Mr. Agyapong can win over undecided delegates, Dr. Bawumia’s lead will be difficult to overturn.

Global Info Analytics noted that the findings highlight both Dr. Bawumia’s dominance and the fluid nature of the primaries as delegates continue to weigh their options.

With the NPP’s flagbearership contest expected to play a crucial role in shaping the party’s strategy for the 2028 general election, political observers say the outcome will determine the governing party’s strength going into the national polls.
