The Ministry of the Interior has ordered a full investigation into claims that the Special Prosecutor, Mr. Kissi Agyebeng, survived two assassination attempts while carrying out his duties.
The allegations were made by Mr. Samuel Appiah Darko, Director of Strategy, Research, and Communications at the Office of the Special Prosecutor, during an appearance on Newsfile, a television programme in Accra, on December 6, 2025.
Mr. Appiah Darko also claimed that he had been handcuffed and assaulted by 17 police officers.

In response, the Ministry said that preliminary checks indicate the alleged assassination attempts occurred before 2025 and that there is no official record of such threats reported to the police or other state security agencies.
While acknowledging that threats to personnel of accountability institutions could undermine government efforts to fight corruption, the Ministry emphasised that crime does not expire and has therefore directed investigations into both the alleged attempts on Mr. Agyebeng’s life and the claims of assault against Mr. Appiah Darko.
The Ministry said it will update the public on the findings of these investigations and any subsequent actions.
It also reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, ensuring that all Ghanaians can carry out their lawful activities without fear.
