The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has constituted a three-member committee, spearheaded by veteran politician Kofi Totobi Quakyi, to investigate allegations of vote-buying during the Ayawaso East parliamentary primaries held on Saturday, 7 February 2026.

The committee is expected to present its findings on Tuesday, 10 February 2026.

The probe follows claims that one of the aspirants, Baba Jamal, distributed television sets, money and other items to delegates in an alleged attempt to influence the outcome of the election.

Although Mr Jamal won the primaries, the results have generated controversy, with the Majority in Parliament and some key members of the NDC calling for the outcome to be annulled.

Speaking to Citi News, committee member Inusah Fuseini said the team is undertaking a strictly fact-finding exercise, engaging all relevant stakeholders involved in the primaries.

“We are a fact-finding committee, so we must gather evidence. In doing that, we must speak to all persons who were connected to the Ayawaso East NDC primaries,” he said.

The committee’s findings are expected to guide the party’s response to the vote-buying allegations.
