NDC Primaries: Dumelo wins Ayawaso West Wuogon primary

Renowned Ghanaian actor John Dumelo has won majority votes in the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) parliamentary elections to become the party’s parliamentary candidate in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency ahead of the 2020 general elections.

One thousand 350 delegates were expected to cast their ballots. Out of the number, 859 delegates voted.

The first candidate on the ballot paper, John Dumelo had 758 votes while the second candidate Afia Adoboe had 99 votes.

There were two spoilt ballots. The official of the Electoral Commission (EC), at the centre Derick Somuah Agyei declared John Dumelo as winner. John Dumelo later spoke to the media.

He thanked the delegates for reposing confidence in him.

Meanwhile, Afua Adoboe expressed disappointment at the process.
