Isaac Obeng, a constituency executive at Okaikwei South and a member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Communications Team, has described the virtual participation of former Presidents Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and John Agyekum Kufuor in National Delegates Conference as “refreshing” and crucial to party unity.
Speaking during a panel discussion with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, Obeng expressed confidence that the input of the two former leaders would strengthen the decisions taken at the conference.
“These former presidents have seen it all,” he said. “President Akufo-Addo has led both the country and the party, and his involvement will help rekindle the spirit of the party. President Kufuor is also widely respected, even by our opponents in the NDC, for his contribution to national development.”
He added that the presence of the former presidents, albeit virtual, would provide much-needed guidance and direction as the party works to emerge from the conference united and focused.
Taking aim at the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Isaac Obeng criticised the current government’s performance over the past seven months, calling it “a scam” and “propaganda,” and urged NPP members to rally together to provide an alternative.
“Our focus is to leave this congress united, ready to bring all party members on board and face the NDC head-on,” he concluded.
