General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua has underscored the urgent need for party delegates to unite and strategically reposition the party as a credible alternative ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Speaking at the party’s National Delegates Conference held at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Saturday July 19, 2025, the NPP national secretary called on members to set aside individual interests and recommit to the shared values of the NPP which include development, freedom, responsibility and enterprise.

“We must look each other in the eye and remember who we are. We are not broken. We are not defeated. We are builders, we are dreamers, we are fighters, we are servants of the Ghanaian people,” he said.

Mr Justin Kodua also emphasized that the conference must serve as a moment of clarity and recommitment to the NPP’s core ideals—particularly in the face of what he described as the “abysmal performance” of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“Ghanaians need us. Let us fight as one body with one identified vision and ambition to make sure that this abysmal performance from the NDC government comes to an end,” he said.

According to him, the electorate is disillusioned with the current administration and seeking better governance, but will only trust a united and disciplined NPP.

“Ghanaians want to come back to the NPP. They know our government offers better solutions to their problems. But they also want to vote for an opposition party that is ready for power,” he said.

The national secretary further criticized President John Mahama and the NDC for failing to deliver on promises made since returning to power, saying the government has failed to reset the country’s course as claimed.

“Ghanaians are asking questions. They are asking President John Mahama: you promised to reset the country for the better — where is that better Ghana? You made noise about lots of promises,” he said.

He urged NPP delegates to use the conference as a launching pad for reclaiming political power in 2028, calling for unity over factionalism.

“The absence, the indiscipline, the tension that bring division among us must be relegated. Ghanaians want to see a proper, responsible and viable opposition party that can rescue them from the misery they are going through under the watch of His Excellency John Mahama and the NDC government,” he said.

“Let our answer be loud. Let your outcry be clear. The NPP is ready. The New Patriotic Party will use this conference as the truth in our attempt to recapture power in 2028. And with a united front, not individualism, I can assure you, we will succeed.”

The National Delegates Conference is one of the party’s highest decision-making bodies, where key strategies and resolutions are adopted ahead of national elections.
