Former Eastern Regional Minister and senior member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Seth Kwame Acheampong, has defended flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Agyapong, saying the outspoken politician is not the “bad person” many people portray him to be.

Speaking on GTV’s Current Agenda show on Saturday, October 4, 2025, Acheampong described Agyapong as a man of good character despite frequent criticisms of his outspoken style.

“I don’t see my former colleague and senior brother Kennedy as the very bad person some try to portray. If I sit here and don’t speak well of Kennedy, I will be sad. I have lived and worked closely with him, and I know who he is,” Acheampong said.

He admitted that Agyapong may at times be controversial in his statements but insisted that this does not reflect his true personality. “Yes, we may have one or two challenges with his output, but I don’t think he is that kind of person in terms of character,” he added.

Acheampong urged the public and members of the NPP to judge Kennedy Agyapong beyond his rhetoric, stressing that his contributions to the party and the country cannot be overlooked.
