Parliament’s Appointments Committee has begun the vetting of seven nominees to Ghana’s Supreme Court, following their selection by President John Dramani Mahama.

President Mahama nominated the judges under Article 144(2) of the 1992 Constitution, a move seen as part of his broader efforts to strengthen Ghana’s judiciary and ensure the effective delivery of justice at the highest level.

The seven nominees include:

Justice Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei

    Justice Gbiel Simon Suurbaareh

    Justice Senyo Dzamefe

    Justice Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo

    Justice Philip Bright Mensah

    Justice Janapare Bartels-Kodwo

    Justice Hafisata Amaleboba

During the hearings, members of the committee will assess each nominee’s legal credentials, professional conduct, experience on the bench, and understanding of constitutional law.
