The Coordinating Director of the Public Affairs Subdivision of Parliament, Kate Addo, has underscored the vital role of effective communication in strengthening governance and sustaining democratic values.

Speaking on “Communication and Interpersonal Skills” at the 2025 Parliamentary Service Graduate Training Program in Accra, Madam Addo highlighted the benefits and far-reaching impact of clarity and precision in official interactions.

She urged employees across all levels of the Parliamentary Service to prioritize both verbal and written communication, stressing the importance of delivering messages with accuracy and professionalism whether engaging with senior or junior colleagues.

Madam Addo further advised participants to remain professional and neutral when addressing sensitive work-related issues. According to her, effective communication is not merely a workplace skill but a crucial tool for building trust, transparency and accountability in public institutions.

“Communication is the lifeblood of democracy,” she stated, emphasizing that strong communication practices are essential for fostering good governance and enhancing public confidence in democratic processes.

The 2025 Parliamentary Service Graduate Training Program brings together Parliamentary Service staff to build their competencies in administration, governance and public service delivery, with communication identified as a core pillar in advancing institutional effectiveness.
