Private Legal practitioner, Kwame Owusu Danso, has called on authorities in the United States to cooperate with Ghanaian institutions to facilitate the return of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to face investigations.
Speaking during a panel discussion on GTV’s Current Agenda, Mr Owusu Danso said it was in the public interest for the former minister to return to Ghana and clear his name over allegations linked to the PDS transaction and the ambulance procurement deal.
He referred to reports of payments made to individuals connected to the former administration, including transactions involving members of the former president’s family, describing the issues as serious and deserving of full scrutiny.
“What makes you a credible public officer is the ability to face the people you served,” he said.
Mr Owusu Danso expressed hope that US authorities would assist with any extradition process to enable Mr Ofori-Atta to appear before the Office of the Special Prosecutor, adding that such cooperation would reinforce accountability and strengthen public trust in governance.
