The Ministry of Roads and Highways says investigations are progressing into the damage caused to a pedestrian footbridge on the N1 Highway between Fiesta Royale and the Nogahill Hotel, with plans underway to determine the appropriate repairs.

Roads Minister, Kwame Agbodza, disclosed in a statement on February 8 that authorities have made significant headway in identifying those responsible for the incident and assessing the extent of damage to the bridge.

“We have made progress. The police are in touch with the owners of the vehicle, the Ministry of Roads and Highways, and other relevant bodies to advance the investigation, assess the level of damage, and prescribe the necessary repairs,” the Minister stated.

He expressed appreciation to the Interior Minister, the Inspector-General of Police, the Ghana Police Service and members of the public who have provided useful information to support the investigation.

The update follows an earlier statement issued on February 6, in which Mr. Agbodza called on the owner of the vehicle believed to have caused the damage to cooperate fully with authorities.

“The beneficial owner of the vehicle which caused this extensive damage to the footbridge between Fiesta Royale and Nogahill Hotel on the N1 Highway must immediately report to the police, assist with investigation, and take responsibility for the repair,” he said.

The Roads Minister stressed that accountability and swift action are essential to restoring the damaged infrastructure and ensuring the safety of pedestrians and motorists using the busy N1 corridor.

He assured the public that once investigations are concluded, necessary repair works will be carried out to prevent further disruption along the highway.
