Antoine Semenyo lifted his first major trophy just three months after swapping Bournemouth for Manchester City, powering the Citizens to a 2-0 EFL Cup final win over Arsenal at Wembley Stadium.

The Ghanaian international’s instrumental performance helped dismantle the Gunners, making him only the second Ghanaian ever to conquer the competition, a monumental milestone for the Black Stars faithful.

Nico O’Reilly emerged as the match-winner, netting a clinical double to sink Premier League leaders Arsenal in this historic showdown.

Billed as the first EFL Cup final between the top two top-flight sides, the game ignited slowly, with Arsenal mustering the only three shots on target in a cagey first half.

Semenyo, though not on the scoresheet, was City’s unsung engine from kickoff to whistle.

His relentless energy, sharp tackles, and probing runs suffocated Arsenal’s attack, paving the way for O’Reilly’s strikes and earning plaudits from manager Pep Guardiola for his “world-class shift.”

This Carabao Cup triumph catapults Semenyo into elite company among Ghanaian trailblazers in England, fueling dreams of more silverware in City’s stacked season.
