President of the Ghana Baseball and Softball Federation, Ernest Danso, has emphasized the need for sports federations to establish transparent and attractive funding structures. Speaking with Isaac Tetteh the on “The File”, Mr Danso stressed that federations must be professional and credible in their operations to attract investors and government support.
The President of the Ghana Baseball and oftball Federation said government funding alone is insufficient, and federations need to explore alternative sources of funding. “The federations need to look attractive to people who want to invest, so that the government will help easily,” he said.
“If we are professional and credible with what we do, the funds will easily come to us.”
Mr Danso highlighted the need for collaboration among federations, suggesting that they work together to raise funds rather than compete negatively with each other.
“Funding should be a collective effort of all federations coming together to raise funds, not biting back at each other by sitting on platforms to talk down on ourselves and other federations,” he advised.
Mr Danso noted that in his federation, he regularly invites heads of other federations to attend events and offer constructive feedback. “When I organize a baseball game, I make sure I invite some of the federation heads to come and analyze and help with their suggestions of what was good and bad,” he explained.
He emphasized that credibility and transparency are essential to attracting long-term support from donors and sponsors. He urged all sports federations to foster a more appealing and accountable environment to help achieve their development goals.
