As the country’s partial lockdown to check the spread of the deadly COVID-19 enters day three today, the old Tema township is reported to be calm. There is little or no traffic along the hospital road, apart from a little slow down at some Police checkpoints.
A Police Officer said those who are caught loitering about for no reason are detained for some hours, cautioned and released. The streets around the Community One main post office and the usually busy Meridian commercial area are virtually empty.
At the Ashaiman traffic light, the road leading to Tema has been blocked to motorists with a heavy security presence. This is however causing some vehicular traffic and also inconveniencing the essential workforce commuting to Tema.
