Black Queens Forward Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah, has expressed a strong sense of confidence and pride ahead of Ghana’s first-ever match against England.
Speaking during the pre-match press briefing at St. Mary’s Stadium in Southampton, Boye-Hlorkah emphasized that her team has the ability and spirit to challenge the European champions on their debut meeting.
Reflecting on their approach to the historic fixture, Boye-Hlorkah urged her teammates to stay true to their identity.
“We can respect the opponent, but at the same time, we need to be ourselves. We are the Black Queens, and we need to do our thing,” she said, highlighting the importance of playing with confidence and authenticity.
The former Everton and London City Lionesses attacker conveyed a positive and composed mood within the squad. “We’re excited to play this game.
We believe in our own qualities,” she explained, noting that the team views the encounter as an opportunity rather than a source of pressure, especially since Ghana has never faced England before.
Boye-Hlorkah also pointed out the team’s collective strength and resilience. “We enjoy the football that we play,” she said. “When we play our football, we can be a force against any team, any country we come up against.”
Her words reflect the squad’s belief in their style of play and unity as they prepare to make history.
Dismissing any nerves, Boye-Hlorkah assured fans that the team is mentally prepared for the challenge. “There’s no fear whatsoever within our camp.
We believe in ourselves, and we’ll see the performance we put out tomorrow,” she said confidently. The Black Queens are set to showcase their skills and fighting spirit on this memorable occasion.
