The U.S. Embassy in Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to welcoming Ghanaians who wish to study, invest, or engage in business in the United States.
In an official statement shared on the Embassy’s Facebook page on 17th June 2025, the embassy warned against illegal entry and visa fraud.
The post warned that anyone who falsifies information, overstays their visa, or works without proper authorization risks facing serious penalties.
The embassy also advised the public not to rely on fixers or visa consultants, stating that visa applications can be submitted directly through the official website at no extra cost. The Embassy clearly stated that no individual or agency can guarantee a visa and that such promises are often deceptive and intended to defraud applicants.
“We wish to emphasize that you do not need the services of a fixer or visa consultant to apply for a get a U.S. visa! This can be done directly through our official website at no extra cost. It is important to note that no fixer or consultant can guarantee a visa. Any such promises are deceptive and intended to defraud you.” the Embassy wrote on its official Facebook page.
The post has sparked some reactions from followers. One commenter praised the message, writing, “This is a welcoming news and reaffirming your commitment to Ghana 🇬🇭.” Another added, “I keep repeating this same message as captioned by the embassy over and over. You don’t need a fixer. Just be truthful and do this yourself. That simple.”
A third commenter, sharing the importance of personal responsibility, wrote, “I like the emphasis on DIY. I wonder why some people are so dumb that they always have to rely on others, e.g. the so-called visa agents, in submitting visa applications. When you can equally go to the embassy website and have it submitted.”
Every year, many applicants fall victim to fraudulent agents who promise guaranteed approvals in exchange for high fees.
The US Embassy has consistently encouraged transparency, honesty, and direct engagement with official processes to ensure a fair and secure visa application experience.
