In a proactive effort to bolster community involvement in counter-terrorism measures, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Nabdam in the Upper East Region, Mr. Francis Tobig has disclosed that the District is very close to border communities threatened by violent extremists.
He has urged the youth to act in ways that will ensure the protection of the people in order to safeguard the stability and peace of the country.
Mr. Tobig insisted that the youth should be on the lookout and report suspicious movements to the security agencies.
“We must all be very attentive and very observant with happenings in our environment. Matters relating to peace in our area must be taken seriously to ensure that we are not caught unaware. Let us observe our environment and say something when we see something” Mr. Tobig instructed.
Emphasizing the crucial role of vigilant community members in thwarting potential terrorist threats, the DCE said they youth must be inculcated with the culture of vigilance to help tackle suspicious activities within their schools and communities.
The DCE is alarmed that peace is under threat in his District and encouraged the youth to be vigilant against terrorist activities.

“Our District happens to be one of the Districts that the peace is threatened and we are encouraging the youth to be in the lookout. Let us make sure that when we find something, we must say something to the security personnel so that we prevent the incidence of crime and the insurgence of violent extremists in our society.” He appealed.
Mr. Francis Tobig was speaking at the Inter-Community Football Game organized by the Gulf of Guinea Northern Regions Social Cohesion (SOCO) Project in Kongo.
The football tournament themed “Promoting unity and collaboration among clusters” was organized to promote social cooperation through unity games, a key component of the social projects supported by the governments of Ghana, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, and Togo, and funded by the World Bank.
