We are not fatigued in galamsey reportage- Sulemana Braimah

 Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Mr. Sulemana Braimah has emphasized that, the media remains committed to reporting on illegal mining also, galamsey without fatigue shutting down claims that, the media has gone silent over the past year. 

He assured on JoyNews’ Newsfile today that, journalists will continue to cover galamsey-related issues as they unfold, driven by the hope of seeing an end to this destructive practice.

Galamsey has ravaged Ghana’s environment, contaminating over 60% of water bodies and destroying forests. Mercury pollution from galamsey has also led to health concerns, including cancer cases and congenital disabilities in mining communities.

President John Mahama’s administration has vowed to tackle galamsey, promising to ban mining in forest reserves with nine of the reserves reclaimed.
