The Greater Accra Regional Security Council, REGSEC has with immediate effect made the wearing of face masks in the capital mandatory.

A statement by REGSEC said the directive issued on April 22 is to ensure compliance with the President’s Directives on Social Distancing and the wearing of face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, commercial bus drivers are to ensure that all passengers wear face masks before being allowed to board their vehicles.

“Notices of “NO FACE MASK, NO ENTRY” are also to be visibly displayed at vantage points including offices, lorry stations, shops, markets, malls, banks, pharmacies, among other places.

Enforcement of these directives takes immediate effect. Meanwhile, the Police say they will require legislation to enforce the wearing of the face masks.
