Ghana is set to launch the Women’s Development Bank soon, as confirmed by the first gentleman of the land, President John Dramani Mahama.
“I’m pleased to announce that we’re in the final stages of setting up the Women’s Development Bank”, he noted.
The bank, a specialized financial institution designed to support women-owned and women-led businesses aims to provide low-interest loans and tailored financial services to women entrepreneurs, addressing the credit gap that has long hindered their growth.
According to President Mahama, the initiative which has been under the leadership of the hardworking Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku- Agyemang is to be set up soon to enable women entrepreneurs who have historically been the backbone of Ghana’s informal economy have access to credit.
He stressed that, though being the backbone, too many women face barriers to affordable credit.
“This Women’s Development Bank provides accessible financing, mentorship and business support that is tailored to women-led enterprises. When women succeed, families thrive and nations prosper”.
