The NAIMOS Taskforce, currently operating across the Western and Western North Regions, conducted a major operation on Saturday, 6th December 2025, at approximately 11:50 a.m. The team raided an illegal mining site at Dadieso in the Suaman District of the Western North Region.
During the operation, nine Chinese nationals engaged in illegal mining were arrested. Their activities had reportedly caused severe pollution to the Bia River, threatening water quality and local livelihoods.
The Taskforce also destroyed several pieces of equipment, including Chungfang machines, heavy-duty water pumps, and makeshift structures used for the illicit operations. All items were destroyed beyond repair to prevent future use.

Authorities say more operations are expected as part of the intensified crackdown on galamsey across the region.
