The Black Queens are a step closer to qualifying for the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after a commanding 3-0 victory against Egypt in Ismaila.
The win in the first leg of their qualifying tie set a positive tone for Ghana’s campaign.
From the outset, Ghana asserted dominance, showcasing both attacking flair and disciplined defensive organization.
Their relentless pressure paid off just before halftime when Doris Boaduwaa scored in the 42nd minute to give the Queens a crucial lead heading into the break.
In the second half, Ghana maintained control of the match, dictating the pace and limiting Egypt’s opportunities.
Mary Amponsah extended the lead in the 85th minute, rewarding Ghana’s persistence and increasing the visitors’ advantage.
Grace Asantewaa then sealed the emphatic win with a goal in the 90th minute, confirming Ghana’s superiority on the day. The 3-0 result places the Black Queens firmly in command ahead of the return leg.
Heading into the second leg, the Black Queens carry confidence and a strong advantage, putting them within reach of qualification for the 2026 WAFCON tournament.
