Senegal and Morocco dominated the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Best XI after CAF’s Technical Study Group named four players from each finalist nation to the tournament’s top team.
CAF confirmed the selection on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, following a detailed technical review process that analyzed performances across the month-long competition using live data tracking, multi-angle match footage, and on-site assessments.
Tournament champions Senegal placed defender Moussa Niakhaté, midfielders Pape Gueye and Idrissa Gueye, and forward Sadio Mané on the list. Mané also claimed Player of the Tournament honors after delivering several decisive performances during Senegal’s title-winning run.
Finalists Morocco were represented by goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, defenders Achraf Hakimi and Noussair Mazraoui, and attacker Brahim Díaz. Bounou anchored Morocco’s campaign by conceding only two goals in seven matches, while Díaz finished as the tournament’s top scorer.
Third-place finishers Nigeria contributed three players to the Best XI. Defender Calvin Bassey, winger Ademola Lookman, and striker Victor Osimhen earned spots after playing key roles in the Super Eagles’ strong tournament showing.
CAF said the Team of the Tournament reflects consistent performance levels, tactical impact, and overall influence throughout the competition.
