Former Black Galaxies and Accra Great Olympics head coach Annor Walker has died after a short illness at his residence in Accra on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. His passing has been mourned by the Ghanaian football community, where he was widely respected for his dedication and tactical expertise.
Walker’s coaching career spanned several prominent Ghanaian clubs, including Great Olympics, Nania FC, Kpando Hearts of Lions, and Berekum Chelsea. He held a CAF License A and is best remembered for guiding Nania FC to their historic 2011 MTN FA Cup victory over Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium, a landmark achievement in his coaching journey.
Walker returned to Great Olympics In 2020, as head coach, where he built one of the club’s most strongest squads in recent memory. Although battling health issues, he continued to lead his team on the touchline, helping Great Olympics climb to the upper ranks of the Ghana Premier League, showcasing both resilience and passion.
Beyond club football, Annor Walker also managed the Ghana Black Galaxies, steering the team to the 2023 African Nations Championship held in Algeria. His leadership on the international stage further cemented his status as a respected figure in Ghanaian football.
Walker is fondly remembered for his keen eye for emerging talent, and significant contributions to the sport in Ghana. His legacy will live on through the players he mentored and the teams he shaped during his impactful career.
