Ghanaian international Antoine Semenyo has been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month for August following an impressive start to the 2025/26 season with AFC Bournemouth.
The forward’s impactful performances have caught the attention of football fans and pundits as he played a key role in the Cherries’ opening fixtures. During August, Semenyo made three appearances, scoring two goals and providing an assist.
He notably scored a brace against Premier League champions Liverpool at Anfield in the season opener, despite Bournemouth falling to a narrow 4-2 defeat. He then set up a vital goal to help his side clinch a narrow victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the second matchday, underlining his importance to the team.

Semenyo faces stiff competition for the award, which includes Manchester City’s prolific striker Erling Haaland, Liverpool’s Hugo Ekitike and Dominik Szoboszlai, as well as Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi. Other contenders are Chelsea forward Joao Pedro, Everton’s Jack Grealish and Arsenal’s Ricardo Calafiori, making the race highly competitive.
Currently, Semenyo is with the Ghana national team as they prepare for crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches. The Black Stars will face Chad on Thursday, September 4, at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Deby Itno in N’Djamena before hosting a decisive clash against Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 8.
