The Ghana Amateur Boxing team, the Black Bombers, will host a France amateur boxing side in a thrilling showdown at the Hathiramani Sports Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

A line of young crack boxers selected from the Bukom Boxing Gym, Black Rockets, and Black Bombers are poised to face the Drovais Boxing Club from France in the much-anticipated international amateur clash.

The Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) says the tournament will be an opportunity for Ghana’s top prospects to prove themselves as hosts against these respected European opponents.

Aside other boxing clubs featuring in the tournament, the fight night is expected to be a platform for the national team, the Black Bombers, to make a solid statement to the international world ahead of the youth Olympics as they showcase the resolute Ghanaian fighting spirit and talents of old.

Former boxers like the legendary Professor Azuma Nelson, Ike Quartey, Nana Yaw Konadu, Kotei Robertson laid the path for recent past champions like Joshua Clotey, Joseph Agbeko and Richard Commey amongst others.

The afore mentioned names are symbols of the typical Ghanaian skill, speed, and power when it comes to boxing and it will only be expected that these young ones will be hungry to emulate them on the night,

The fight night will also double as a preparatory tournament and training test for the Youth Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games.

Following the ban in professional boxing in the country, the Ghana Boxing Federation are working closely with the IMC on Professional Boxing to ensure a smooth sail of this amateur event.
