The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has officially confirmed that all outstanding bonuses owed to the Black Queens have been fully paid.
This announcement comes after the Queens threatened to boycott their crucial second-leg match against Egypt due to delayed payments.
The situation was resolved following an emergency meeting with Mr. Adams and Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kurt Okraku.
The players had voiced their frustration over unpaid bonuses, which nearly disrupted the fixture in Accra. However, following reassurances that the issue would be addressed, the Black Queens agreed to proceed with the game.
After their emphatic 4-0 win over Egypt, which completed a 7-0 aggregate victory, the team received their payments as promised.
Speaking to Woezor TV after the game, Kofi Adams stated, “Black Queens’ bonuses have been paid. The players have been given their cheques after the game against Egypt in Accra.”
His comments came on a night filled with celebration as Ghana booked their place in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Ghana’s dominant performance included a 3-0 win in the first leg in Ismailia before sealing qualification with a 4-0 victory on home soil at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The team now awaits the group stage draw for the continental tournament, scheduled to take place in Morocco.
A strong showing at WAFCON remains crucial for the Black Queens, as a semifinal finish would secure their ticket to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
With the bonuses settled and the spot confirmed, Ghana’s women’s team can now focus fully on their preparations for the upcoming challenges.
