Ghana’s U17 team the Black Starlets secured a 3-1 victory against Niger in the WAFU Zone B U-17 AFCON qualifiers, booking their place in the semi-finals.
The win highlights Ghana’s continued strength at the youth level and their ambition for continental success.
Robinho Yao Gavi was the star of the match, scoring two goals that helped establish Ghana’s dominance early on. His clinical finishing gave the Black Starlets a vital edge as they controlled much of the game’s tempo.
Mark Kagawa Mensah also made a significant impact by scoring a powerful long-range strike, adding to Ghana’s lead.
Niger managed to pull one goal back, showing resilience and fighting spirit. However, the Black Starlets’ defense remained solid, ensuring no further damage was done.
Ghana’s ability to maintain their composure under pressure was key to securing the full three points.
