The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the CAA Region II Senior Athletics Championship has announced a change in the event’s dates to 18 and 19 August 2025, instead of the originally scheduled 15 and 16 August.

The LOC explained that the decision to postpone was made in recognition of the national mourning period declared by President John Dramani Mahama to honour the memory of the victims of the recent helicopter crash.

According to the LOC, the change in dates will not affect the quality or integrity of the championship. All logistics, accreditation, and technical arrangements will be adjusted accordingly to ensure a smooth and successful event at the University of Ghana Stadium.

“We appreciate your understanding, cooperation and continued support as we prepare to host a world-class athletics championship in honour of our region and continent,” the LOC said.

The championship is expected to bring together top athletes from across the region, with the new dates aimed at ensuring the event takes place without any disruptions.

Ghana Athletics has reiterated its commitment to hosting a successful competition and has called on all stakeholders to support the championship.
