Ghana’s Police Ladies FC delivered an impressive performance on Wednesday August 27, 2025, claiming a 3-1 victory over Benin’s Sam Nelly in their second group match at the WAFU B qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League. The win was a crucial response following their narrow 2-1 loss to Nigeria’s Bayelsa Queens in the tournament opener and keeps their hopes of qualification alive.
The match took place at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro, where Police Ladies FC asserted control from the outset. The Ghanaian side dominated possession and created numerous scoring opportunities, displaying attacking fluidity and defensive solidity throughout the 90 minutes.
Their determination to secure all three points was evident in their performance.
Grace Animah opened the scoring for Police Ladies, setting the tone for the team. Sarah Nyarkoh and Deborah Afriyie also found the back of the net, effectively sealing the win for the Ghanaian club.
The trio’s clinical finishing rewarded sustained pressure on the Benin side, who struggled to contain their hosts. Despite conceding a goal, Police Ladies maintained composure and continued to press, preventing Sam Nelly from mounting a serious comeback.
This victory boosts the team’s morale and puts them in a stronger position in the group standings as they prepare for the remaining fixtures. With this win, Police Ladies FC have sent a clear message of intent as they aim to progress to the next stage of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
