The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), in partnership with the Ghana Cyclist Association, will organise three Cycling Competitions dubbed “King of the Mountain” as part of the UN World Tourism Day Celebrations on Saturday, September 28, 2018, at Kwahu.

The Cycling Competition forms part of the side attractions of the World Tourism Day Celebrations, and the competition will be between cyclists from Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Togo, Benin, Nigeria and Burkina Faso.  A release issued by the GTA to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, on Thursday, said the competition is the first to be organised and would add more innovations and create excitement during the ’FUN & FLY’ paragliding to attract more tourists to the Kwahu area.  The release said the Cyclists would be competing for prizes and will go through some major towns in Kwahu and end at the Paramount Chief’s Palace in Abene.

It said prizes would be awarded to the first ten participants, with the first three taking home Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in addition to some consolation prizes. The rest of the participants would receive consolation prizes.

Other side attractions for the World Tourism Day Celebrations include a durbar of Chiefs and People at the Abetifi Palace, a digital Symposium, children playground and sale of assorted local food and drinks.
