GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo appointed to FIFA Legal Committee

General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Prosper Harrison Addo, Esq, has been appointed as a Member of the FIFA Legal Committee for a four-year term spanning 2025 to 2029.

This appointment is a significant recognition of his legal expertise, leadership, and contributions to football administration, announced under the framework of FIFA Statutes and Governance Regulations.

The FIFA Legal Committee is a pivotal body within FIFA, responsible for advising the FIFA Council on legal and regulatory matters crucial to the governance of global football.

Chaired by Elvis Chetty of Seychelles, the committee includes Michael Llamas of Gibraltar as Deputy Chairperson. Addo’s role will involve shaping interpretations of statutes, governance frameworks, and compliance standards critical to the sport worldwide.

Addo’s appointment follows extensive service at both national and international levels. He contributed to major FIFA initiatives such as the FIFA General Secretaries Handbook and the FIFA Clearing House Regulations, which have become core elements of FIFA’s administrative reforms.

With over 24 years of legal, regulatory, and administrative experience, Addo brings valuable expertise to the committee. Before becoming GFA General Secretary in 2020, Addo held key roles in the corporate sector including Senior Manager, Compliance at MTN Ghana.

Academically, he holds a BA in Law and Economics from the University of Ghana and an MBA from Salford Business School, UK. His professional certificates in law, governance, and football administration further reinforce his qualifications.

Within Ghanaian football, Addo has served as Chairman of several disciplinary committees and held roles on the FA Cup and GFA Legal Committees, earning wide respect.

Beyond football, he actively contributes to media and communications, being a member of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana and an associate member of the Institute of Public Relations.

His FIFA appointment is a moment of pride for Ghana, marking the rise of its professionals in global football governance.
