Ghana’s senior and U21 beach volleyball teams have arrived in Morocco, marking the beginning of their campaign at the 2025 Africa Beach Volleyball Championship. The teams touched down at Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport, ready to compete from 22 to 30 June. This prestigious tournament not only offers continental bragging rights but also acts as a crucial qualifier for the upcoming World Beach Volleyball Championship in Australia, scheduled for August.
The women’s team is composed of talented athletes including Rashaka Katadat from the Ghana Army, Benedicta Akorli and Grace Dagadu from the Ghana Air Force, and Joana Mensah representing Elwak Wings. These players bring a wealth of experience and skill, representing Ghana’s strength in the sport. Their goal is to secure a top position and earn a spot in the world championships, showcasing Ghana’s growing reputation in beach volleyball.
On the men’s side, the team is equally formidable, featuring Paul Akan and Abdul Hameed Ibrahim from the Ghana Police, Nicholas Tetteh from the Ghana Air Force, and Emmanuel Adamitey, also from the Ghana Police. These athletes are well-prepared and motivated to perform at their best, aiming to advance beyond the continental level. Their participation emphasizes Ghana’s commitment to developing beach volleyball and achieving international success.
Adding to the team’s promising prospects is the U21 squad, represented by Emmanuel Abbey from the Ghana Fire Service and Eben Anyetei from Labadi Volleyball Club. These young athletes are seen as the future of Ghanaian beach volleyball, and their involvement in the tournament provides valuable experience that could propel them to higher levels of competition and inspire the next generation of players.
With a dedicated technical team and strong representation across different security and sports institutions, Ghana’s teams are determined to make an impact. Their arrival in Morocco signals the start of a challenging but promising journey, as they aim to qualify for the world championships and elevate Ghana’s standing in African and global beach volleyball.
