Ghana’s women’s national team, the Black Queens, will face Côte d’Ivoire in two away international friendly matches on May 30 and June 3, 2025.
The games form part of the team’s preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), set to be held in Morocco. They are seen as key opportunities for the Black Queens to gain valuable match experience and build confidence ahead of the continental tournament.
Led by head coach Kim Lars Björkegren, the team has been strengthening its squad in recent months, taking part in a series of international matches since March. The friendlies against Ivory Coast are expected to play a crucial role in fine-tuning tactics and evaluating player performance.
The matches will allow the team to test itself against strong opposition and make necessary adjustments before WAFCON. They also offer players a platform to impress, with the coaching staff closely monitoring team dynamics.
The outcomes could influence final squad selections for the tournament. The list of players for the upcoming friendlies is expected to be announced in the coming days, based on current form and fitness.
