The 39th Africa Cup of Nations will kick off on Sunday, January 9th, 2022 in Cameroon. Ahead of the journey, teams have been preparing feverishly to annex the trophy. The Black Stars played a friendly match on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, against the defending league champions Algeria in Qatar and lost by three goals to nil.

Speaking to a section of the public on their expectation of the Black Stars in the tournament, most of them expressed pessimism about how far Ghana would reach in the tournament. Others however indicated that if the team works as a unit, it can perform well to end the 40 year AFCON trophy drought.
”For me I’m just expecting the best from our players and just that they will do well and put God first in everything they do and finally we will win and bring the Cup home”.

”Meeting Morocco will be one of the hurdles we will cross. We will definitely cross Morocco. Within the group we will qualify within the group we will be part of those who will qualify within the group”.

”My expectation is, I don’t see anything good coming out, we will definitely come back in the first round. If only they don’t play as a team, if they play as a team, fine but, if they want to do their own individual brilliance, then they will come back early”, one fan said.

”Well I expect the Back Stars to get to the quarter-finals

”I have lost hope. I don’t see anything good coming out of the tournament”.

These formed views of some Sports fans on their expectations of the Black Stars in the AFCON.
