Ghanaian forward Kamaldeen Sulemana has been named Southampton’s Professional Footballers Association (PFA) Community Champion for the 2024/25 season. The award recognizes his outstanding dedication to community outreach through the Saints Foundation, highlighting his efforts beyond the football pitch to make a positive impact locally.
The PFA created this award to celebrate players who demonstrate a strong commitment to their communities. Sulemana distinguished himself among his peers through his hands-on involvement and consistent participation in initiatives led by the club’s charitable arm. His active engagement has set a high standard for community service among professional athletes.
One of Sulemana’s notable contributions was participating in a Community Champions session at Oasis Academy Mayfield. During this event, he effectively communicated with a diverse group of students, tailoring his approach to connect meaningfully with each pupil. His thoughtful interaction showcased his genuine commitment to inspiring and engaging with young people.

On another occasion, Sulemana went beyond his scheduled activities by staying to watch the end of a local tournament. He congratulated the winners, encouraged the runners-up and made sure all attendees left with a positive memory, either a photograph or a word of encouragement. His dedication demonstrated his sincere interest in community development.
Saints Foundation Managing Director Sam Fulling praised Sulemana’s approach, noting his commitment and adaptability. PFA CEO Maheta Molango also emphasized the significance of these awards, highlighting the importance players place on their roles off the pitch.
The season’s community service efforts were rounded out by Meg Collett, who received the women’s team honour for her valuable contributions.
