Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku has responded to Crystal Palace forward Eddie Nketiah’s public declaration of availability to play for Ghana. Okraku stated that the decision to invite Nketiah to join the Black Stars lies with the technical team, led by coach Otto Addo. “It’s not my call,” Okraku said. “It’s the coach and his backroom staff who decide whoever deserves to play for our Black Stars.”

Nketiah’s comments on The Beautiful Game podcast, where he expressed his willingness to play for Ghana if called upon, have reignited discussions about his potential availability for the Black Stars. Despite previous overtures from the GFA, Nketiah had not been considered a priority target. However, his circulated statements have opened the door for potential consideration.

Okraku’s response clears the way for coach Otto Addo and his technical team to assess Nketiah’s current form and fitness. With Ghana set to play crucial World Cup qualifying matches, Nketiah’s experience and goal-scoring ability could be valuable assets. However, his recent form has been modest, with just one goal and one assist in 25 Premier League games.
