Former Black Stars assistant coach Maxwell Konadu has been named the new head coach of reigning Ghana Premier League champions Bibiani GoldStars, signing a two-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2027.

This appointment ends a period without a permanent coach for GoldStars following the dismissal of Frimpong Manso.

Frimpong Manso was relieved of his duties after Bibiani GoldStars suffered a 2-0 defeat to JS Kabylie in the first leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary round tie at Accra Sports Stadium.

With Manso’s exit, assistant coach Nana Yaw Amankwah managed the team for the return leg in Algeria, but the side was handed a heavy 5-0 loss, bowing out 7-0 on aggregate from the continental competition.

Konadu’s arrival brings extensive coaching experience to Bibiani GoldStars. The seasoned tactician has previously managed top clubs including Asante Kotoko and Legon Cities, as well as national youth teams like the Black Meteors.

He also coached South African club Black Leopards, and is expected to leverage this experience to help GoldStars defend their league title.

The new head coach is set to oversee his first game in charge on Wednesday, October 8, when Bibiani GoldStars face Asante Kotoko in a rescheduled Ghana Premier League fixture at Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
