The Premier Tennis Club in Tema has organized its annual Farmers’ Day Tennis Tournament as part of this year’s national celebration of farmers.

The event, which has been running for more than five years and was sponsored mainly by the KGL Foundation, drew hundreds of tennis enthusiasts to the club’s courts in Tema to cheer on participating teams.

At the end of an exciting competition, Richard Frimpong Ansah and Sisu Tomegah of the Sakumono Tennis Club emerged champions, defeating the host team, Premier Tennis Club, 7–1 in the doubles final.

“We’re very excited. We came in confident, knowing what we could do, while still respecting our opponents. We played with a free mind and came out with success,” said Richard Frimpong Ansah.

His partner, Sisu Tomegah, who played for Sakumono Tennis Club for the first time, expressed similar joy:
“I’m very excited. This is my first time representing Sakumono Tennis Club, and I’m happy to have made them proud. It was a very good game.”

Chairman of the Premier Tennis Club, Dr. Michael Quashie, described the tournament as a meaningful way to honour farmers through sports.
“Basically, it’s a day to celebrate farmers through sports and tennis, and we had teams from various tennis clubs come and compete. It’s been a very good event,” he said.

Dr. Quashie noted that although this year’s tournament was a success, the club aims to make next year’s edition even bigger.
“It’s been a success, but we’re hoping to make it bigger and better next year.”

Other sponsors who supported the event included Imperial General Assurance, Bel Aqua, GNPC, SIR SAK World, Sky Water, CDH Financial Holdings, Ekuus Pharmacy, Pensions Alliance Trust, and Raphal Medical Centre.

The tournament concluded with an awards presentation, food, and music, marking the end of a lively and well-attended celebration.
