The opening round of the 2025 RLFG Men’s 13s Championship concluded with thrilling matches that have already shaken up the competition and set the stage for an intense title race. All six clubs showcased their skills in Week 7, delivering historic wins, commanding performances, and fierce rivalries that promise an electrifying season ahead.

A highlight of the weekend was Skolars RLFC’s breakthrough victory over Bulls RLFC, ending a six-year Round 1 losing streak against their rivals. Skolars took an early lead with a try from Richard Amevor and maintained momentum through second-half tries by Chris Da-Gama and Emmanuel Acheampong.

Despite Bulls’ efforts, including tries from Desmond Geotrah and Martin Buabeng, Skolars held on to secure a 22–14 win, finishing Round 1 unbeaten and topping the standings with 15 points. Meanwhile, the Nungua Tigers asserted their dominance with a convincing 36–4 win over Dragons RLC. From the outset, the Tigers controlled the game, racking up early tries and maintaining pressure throughout.

Key contributions from Gideon Klugey, Kofi Montchon, and Godfred Akins propelled the Tigers to third place with 9 points, signaling their intent to challenge for a playoff spot. The Accra Panthers delivered the most emphatic result of the round, overwhelming UG Titans 58–0 in a display of offensive firepower.

Multiple try scorers, including Yusif Abdul and Stanley Dzagah, combined with accurate conversions to secure the largest winning margin of the season so far. The Titans, unable to find their rhythm, ended Round 1 without a win, while Panthers climbed to 4th place and kept their playoff hopes alive.

As Round 1 wraps up, the standings reflect a competitive field with Skolars leading, followed by Bulls, Tigers and Panthers. With momentum shifting and rivalries heating up, Round 2 promises even more excitement as teams fight for playoff positioning and redemption. Fans can expect the championship to intensify as the season progresses.
