The Tennis Foundation Ghana (TFG) has donated a restringing machine, a case of tennis balls, cash, and other essential accessories to the Ho Tennis Club (HTC) to support the development of tennis in the Volta Region.

The donation is part of the foundation’s commitment to promoting grassroots tennis, supporting athletes, and enhancing tennis programmes in line with its mission to promote tennis excellence across Ghana.

Chairman of the Ho Tennis Club, Eric Bortey, expressed gratitude on behalf of the club’s leadership and members. He stated that the club would make effective use of the donated items to further the development of the sport in the region.

The donation was presented by Roger Crawford, President of TFG, who emphasised the need for tennis development to reach every region in Ghana and reaffirmed the foundation’s dedication to the cause.

Mr Crawford made the donation during the annual Asogli Te Za Tennis Tournament, one of the major sporting events on the Asogli Te Za (Yam Festival) calendar. The 2025 edition of the tournament marks its 14th year and usually attracts tennis clubs from outside the region, including Tarkwa, Winneba, Tema, and Accra.

TFG is a non-profit organisation that relies on partnerships and donations to support its initiatives. The foundation’s efforts have been recognised for their positive impact on tennis in Ghana, and this latest donation is expected to further enhance the sport’s growth in the Volta Region.

TFG’s programmes, including the National Junior Tennis League and ITF Junior World Tour events, have provided young Ghanaian players with opportunities to develop their skills and compete internationally. The foundation is also dedicated to education and community outreach, using tennis as a tool for social development and youth empowerment.
