Kowa Naso emerged as the champions of the second edition of the Thomas Partey Tournament, defeating the defending champions D-Wise XI with a 3-1 scoreline in a thrilling final match. The tournament attracted significant attention as a showcase for young football talent, with both teams battling fiercely to claim the coveted title and the $1,000 cash prize.

A total of 12 teams competed in this year’s event, all vying for recognition and the opportunity to impress local and international scouts present at the venue. The tournament has grown in stature, serving as a crucial platform for emerging players to demonstrate their skills and potentially secure professional careers in football.

Both finalists secured their spots after intense semi-final clashes. Kowa Naso narrowly beat Field Masters 2-1, while D-Wise XI edged Sporting Club on penalties, 6-5, after a tense draw in regulation time. Their impressive performances set the stage for an exciting showdown in the final.

Samuel Ziga, the Public Relations Officer for the tournament, expressed his excitement about the event’s success. He highlighted the presence of football star Thomas Partey himself, who was present to support the young players and witness the matches.

“We had the main man himself, Thomas Partey, present. Everyone was thrilled to have him here for this special occasion. This is only the second edition, and I must say, it’s already impressive.
I love how Ghanaians continue to support Thomas Partey,” Samuel Ziga mentioned.

Looking ahead, organizers are already planning for the next edition, scheduled to take place in December. Ziga anticipates an even more spectacular event, with hopes of expanding the tournament’s reach and further supporting Ghanaian youth aspiring to reach the professional level.

“This project is dear to his heart he wants to give back to mother Ghana, and this tournament is one way of supporting the young players who aspire to become professionals. For the next edition, I’m expecting something even more spectacular,” Samuel Ziga affirmed.
