The countdown to FIFA World Cup 26 has reached a major milestone with the launch of TRIONDA, the Official Match Ball of the tournament.
Named from the Spanish word meaning “three waves,” TRIONDA celebrates the historic hosting by three nations Canada, Mexico, and the United States, marking the first time the event is jointly hosted by three countries.
The vibrant ball’s design features red, green, and blue colors representing the host nations, with a unique four-panel construction forming a triangle at the center, symbolizing their unity.
Iconography such as the maple leaf, eagle, and star pay homage to each country, while gold highlights reflect the FIFA World Cup Trophy’s prestige.
Performance innovations are a key feature of TRIONDA. Deep seams provide optimal in-flight stability by managing air drag, while embossed icons improve grip in wet conditions.
For the second consecutive World Cup, the ball includes a 500Hz motion sensor chip that supplies real-time data to the video assistant referee system, enhancing match decisions like offsides.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino praised the ball’s design, describing TRIONDA as an iconic symbol of unity and excitement.
He expressed eagerness to see the ball in action at the “greatest FIFA World Cup ever,” highlighting its role in the tournament’s growing anticipation.
The launch follows other landmark announcements, including official mascots and ticket sales highlights.
TRIONDA’s debut sets the tone for the upcoming months leading to the tournament, with important qualifiers underway and the Final Draw scheduled for December 5, 2025, in Washington, D.C.
