The Chairman of the Volta Regional Football Association (VRFA) has made a passionate appeal to local authorities to improve the condition of the neglected Ho Sports Stadium.
He said that the Ho Sports Stadium is the only facility in the region that accommodates all sporting and non-sporting activities.
“We are appealing to the authorities, through the MCE, to help renovate the stadium since it’s the only facility hosting all sporting games in the regional capital,” he said.
“This stadium is the heartbeat of sports and community life in Volta. It is important that we upgrade it for the development of football and other sports in the Volta region,” he added.
Mr. Agbogah’s plea was made during the opening ceremony of the Ho Municipal Football Association (HMFA) Division Three Middle League. The event was attended by the newly appointed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Stephen Adom, along with other dignitaries.

The Ho Sports Stadium, the region’s only sports facility, has been in disrepair since its inception.
While the National Sports Authority (NSA) has renovated parts of the administrative area, the playing field still requires significant work.
During heavy rainfall, the field often becomes flooded, leading to game postponements and disruptions for organizers.
In his remarks, the MCE pledged to support sports and prioritise the stadium’s urgent needs.
“There is a need for collaboration between the government and the community towards a common goal of supporting sporting events,” he said.
The NSA, which manages the facility, operates under challenging conditions, relying on Internally Generated Funds (IGFs) from various sports disciplines, especially football.
They have also received support from generous companies, such as GCB Bank, which donated a polytank to help maintain the field’s green surface.
Businessman Francis Aba also contributed to the construction of a public urinal for the facility.
If renovated, the Ho Sports Stadium would support multiple sports disciplines and foster regional sports development and community engagement.
Local authorities are urged to prioritise the renovation of the stadium to ensure it remains a hub for talent discovery and provides a safe, functional space for both athletes and spectators.

The HMFA Division Three Middle League is the final stage of the qualification series for third-division clubs in the Ho Municipality.
Eight teams are competing for a chance to enter the playoffs and earn promotion to the Regional Division Two League, the highest football league in the Volta Region.
