Black Starlets head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has affirmed that his team is fully prepared ahead of their crucial WAFU Zone B U17 Boys Championship semi-final against Nigeria on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire with the match scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. GMT.
Speaking after the final training session, Ogum highlighted the importance of the match against Nigeria as beyond football.
Prosper Ogum stressed that matches between Ghana and Nigeria carry deep rivalry and national pride. “We have prepared well, and the boys understand what this game means to Ghana. It is not just about football; it is about pride and the chance to go to the AFCON,” he said.
Prosper Ogum also underscored the need for mental strength and discipline in this high-pressure game. He urged his young players to approach the match with courage and determination, emphasizing the weight of carrying the nation’s hopes.
Ghana enters the semi-final with confidence after a strong 3-1 win over Niger in their last group game, a result that revitalized belief in their attacking capabilities. The team’s positive form raises expectations for a competitive encounter against their West African rivals.
The stakes are high as the winner at Charles Konan Banny Stadium will not only reach the final but automatically qualify for the U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco next year.
