The CEO of Hasaacas Ladies, Nsiah Asare, is calling on the government to invest more in women’s sports leagues, citing the raw talent that Ghanaian women have been blessed with.
In an interview with Gloria Peprah on Studio 5 (GTV Sports Plus), she highlighted the significant disparities between the Ghana Women’s Premier League and top international leagues like La Liga.
“We lack facilities, including dressing rooms and standard pitches, and our jerseys and boots are limited,” she emphasised.
Nsiah Asare urged Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang to meet with women’s teams to discuss their needs, expressing confidence that, as a mother, the Vice President would understand and offer support.
While congratulating Police Ladies on their WAFU qualification, Nsiah Asare stressed that more needs to be done.
“Anytime Hasaacas or Ampem Darkoa qualifies, we face financial difficulties due to limited sponsorships,” she noted.
She also pointed out inconsistencies in government support, saying that while teams receive funding for CAF Women’s Champions League qualifications, they struggle to secure support for WAFU competitions.
Nsiah Asare praised Sports Minister Kofi Adams for his efforts but emphasized the need for greater investment in women’s football to prevent talented players from leaving the country in search of better opportunities abroad.
“It’s time for the government to invest more in women’s leagues,” she reiterated, highlighting the potential for growth and success with proper support.
