Former Ghana international Yaw Preko has been appointed the caretaker coach of Ghana Premier League (GPL) side Accra Great Olympics.

Preko, 46, will stand-in for the current Olympics Head Coach Annor Walker who is indisposed. Walker was not on the bench for Olympics’ last two games against Aduana Stars and AshantiGold which ended in defeat.

Preko who coached Ghanaian giants Accra Hearts of Oak as a caretaker in 2016 will take charge of his first training session today at the McDan La Town Park after his formal introduction to the playing body by Olympics CEU, Oluboi Commodore.

He will be assisted by former Olympics player-coach Godwin Attram.

Preko made his name as a teenager with Hearts in the Ghana Premier League before stints across Europe and Asia with clubs including Anderlecht, Gaziantepspor and Fernabache and Al-Ettifaq.

After retiring from football in 2007, he has since been an assistant coach with Ghana’s U-20 team, Hearts and Nigerian Premier League side Ifeanyi Ubah.

Olympics are currently seventh in the Ghana Premier League after eight games (three wins, two draws and three losses).
