Ghana’s football fraternity has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of Stephen Appiah, a young and respected football administrator affiliated with the Ashanti Regional Football Association and General Manager of Division One League side, PAC Academy.

Appiah reportedly passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, after being rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi. The cause of death has not yet been publicly disclosed.

Widely regarded as one of the most promising administrators in Ghanaian football, Appiah was deeply passionate about grassroots development. Under his leadership, PAC Academy became a nurturing ground for many budding footballers, offering opportunities for young talents to excel.

Before joining PAC Academy, he served in key roles at Achiken FC and Future Stars FC, where his commitment to player development and organizational excellence earned him respect across the football fraternity.

Tributes have since poured in from clubs, players, and officials nationwide, with many describing him as a “selfless servant of the game” and a “visionary leader.”

“Stephen was more than a football administrator—he was a mentor, a dream-builder, and a true friend of the sport,” one tribute read.

His passing marks a significant loss for the Ashanti Region and Ghana football at large. Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming days.
